4 Summer Camps Where Kids Can Act Out

Since the performing arts is such an important part of New York City culture, it’s only natural that kids get to experience it as well. If your budding actors and actresses need something fun to do this summer, check out one of these summer camps taught by real Broadway stars from hit musicals like Book of Mormon and Mamma Mia!

On Broadway-PATPpatp Dates: July 21–August 15 Ages: 5–14
A summer camp with a conservatory setting, On Broadway PATP is taught by skilled teachers who help students explore theater, dance, and music. Rema Webb, a 16-year Broadway veteran who currently stars in Violet at the Roundabout Theater and is an original cast member in Book of Mormon, started the program out of her passion for teaching and sharing her own experiences with newer generations.

Dates: July 8–11 Ages: 7–12
Rockstars! is taught by a brother and sister team with plenty of Broadway experience—Lee Kasper is a director, actor, teacher, and performance coach, and Rebecca Kasper is an actor, singer, and teacher who has worked both on and off Broadway, including as a performer in Mamma Mia. The camp gives NYC kids the chance to learn, play, and rock out to hits of the past five decades.

Broadway Bootcamp

Dramallama Studio’s Broadway Bootcamp teaches the ABCs of Broadway. Not only will kids learn basic acting principles and fun practice exercises, they’ll also have the chance to meet real Broadway performers who will teach them pieces from their current shows.
